About a year ago I met Shannon and Tyler in a Starbucks (what a surprise) in Ridgewood, NJ. They told me they were planning a backyard wedding at Tyler's family residence in Hohokus, NJ. Having shot backyard weddings before I was honestly imagining something a little less grand than what unfolded before me a year later. These two and their families really staged a beautiful wedding.
A lot of things went right at Shannon and Tyler's wedding. First, Shannon and Tyler were extremely kind since I met them and instilled a lot of confidence that I could deliver what they wanted. On their day they once again expressed they were excited that I was their wedding photographer. Talk about motivating feedback! Second, the weather, locations and light were all absolutely gorgeous all day long. Most weddings have at least one challenging chapter in terms of light, but it just seemed we floated from one beautiful setting to another without having to fight the conditions once. Third, Shannon and Tyler are really photogenic and comfortable in front of the camera, and their love shined bright. And fourth, so was their awesome family and friends. It all added up to one of the most unique, candid and beautiful weddings I shot in 2016.
If I had to pick one of my favorite images of the day it would be Tyler seeing Shannon walk with her father down the aisle. The tears welling in Tyler's eyes make a powerful image, but it is taken to the next level when you see a similar glistening reflection in the eyes of his brother standing at his side, excited to gain a sister and see his brother marry the woman of his dreams. I think that sums up the kind of warm, loving emotion I was capturing all day.
Shannon and Tyler, congratulations on your love story, and thanks so much for everything. And finally, thanks for the incredible cookie bar, I enjoyed scarfing down three dozen gourmet cookies.
